σῑτίον, τό, gew. plur. τὰ σιτία, 1) Speise von Weizen oder Getreide, Brot, oft bei Her., z. B. Αἰγύπτιοι ἀπὸ ὀλυρέων ποιέονται σιτία, 2, 36. – 2) übh. Speise, Kost, Nahrungsmittel, bes. für Menschen; σιτία τριῶν ἡμερῶν, Ar. Ach. 197; im Ggstz von πώματα Plat. Legg. II, 659 e, von ποτά Prot. 334 a, von ὄψα c; Folgde. – 3) auch die öffentliche Beköstigung im Prytaneion, τἀν πρυτανείῳ σιτία, Ar. Equ. 706.
